APPLICATIONS:

These conventional swing check valves are used in horizontal or vertical systems with rising flow to prevent flow reversal. Suitable for single pump water and sewage applications with low to high lift, and to multi-pump water applications which have low to medium lift.

DESIGN:

GMD Check Valves, incorporate modified design features from GMD Recoil Valves, angled face, and integral weight loaded door to give mechanical and hydraulic assistance towards accelerating the movement of the door.

Seats — Gunmetal to BS 1400
Hinge Pin — Bronze

FLOW RATINGS:

Under conditions of severe reflux, effective non-slam performance is obtained with branch velocities up to 3 m/s. In conditions of less severity branch velocities may be increased to 4 m/s.

These flow ratings are for guidance only and subject to revision depending on the system conditions – for example, the pump lift and gradient.

MAINTENANCE:

These valves require minimal maintenance, but the following parts should be periodically inspected:

• The hinges and door should be clear of debris to ensure free movement.
• The hinge pin inspected for excessive wear.
• The sump in the bottom of the valve cleaned.
• The valve faces cleaned and inspected for cuts.
• The hinge pin plugs inspected for leakage.
• Valve by pass inspected for leakage (if supplied.)
